How many of you have ever moved and attended a new school? How many of you like rain? You may ask what this has to do with anything, but it is important to Isabella (Bella) Swan. She has chosen to move from bright, sunny Phoenix, Arizona to rainy, dreary Forks, Washington. Forks is where her dad, Charlie, lives. Bella’s parents are divorced and she decides to spend some time with her dad. The new school isn’t so bad and she has even made a few friends. Except for Edward Cullen, things seem to be moving along smoothly. For some very strange reason, Bella is attracted to this pale, black-eyed, gorgeous looking guy. Not having much dating experience, she is uncertain about this hot and cold behavior toward her. Bella and Edward seem to be attracted to each other as if by animal-like attraction. This couldn’t be closer to the truth! Beautiful Edward is a vampire and Bella knows it.

Memoirs of a Teenage AmnesiacNaomi bumped her head. Badly. A junior in high school, she can’t remember anything since the sixth grade. As far as she can recall, her parents are married and she doesn’t have a boyfriend. Now, she finds out her parents have bitterly divorced and a boy named Ace seems to have very specific idea about why Naomi has birth controls on her nightstand.

To make things more complicated, she finds herself drawn to James, a mysterious boy with a fuzzy past, and her best friend Will isn’t helping at all. Love triangle doesn’t begin to describe this fascinating exploration of teenage relationships. With a blank memory, Naomi can’t trust her experience and instead must closely examine her feelings and reactions for clues about what and who she really wants.

Readers who enjoy this book should try “Elsewhere” – also by Gabrielle Zevin.

Abundance of KatherinesColin Singleton was a child prodigy, not a genius, just prodigy. Now, after graduating from high school he is just a smart guy with a talent for languages and remembering obscure facts. To top it off, he’s been dumped, for the nineteenth time, by a girl named Katherine. In a slump and feeling lost, Colin sets out with his best friend Hassan on a road trip adventure. Searching for that “Eureka” moment, the pair end up in Gutshot, Tennessee where Colin learns that making a difference, really mattering in life, can happen in unexpected ways.

All the characters are wonderfully written, full of life and humor, and the story is entertaining. Readers will be rooting for things to work out for Colin and his struggle to capture the unruly world of love in a neat, mathematical theorem.
